New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU)
The Board of Public Utilities is a regulatory authority with a statutory mandate to ensure safe, adequate, and proper utility services at reasonable rates for customers in New Jersey. Accordingly, the NJBPU regulates critical services such as natural gas, electricity, water and telecommunications and cable television. The Board addresses issues of consumer protection, energy reform, deregulation of energy and telecommunications services and the restructuring of utility rates to encourage energy conservation and competitive pricing in the industry. The Board also has responsibility for monitoring utility service and responding to consumer complaints.

NUI Elizabethtown Gas
Elizabethtown Gas was founded in 1855 to provide energy for the 300 gaslights lining the streets of the city now known as Elizabeth, New Jersey.  For the first century of its existence, Elizabethtown Gas manufactured the gas it delivered.  In 1951, the company converted its system to natural gas which was delivered to New Jersey through a network of interstate pipelines.  Elizabethtown Gas became part of NUI Corporation when NUI was created in 1969.  Today, Elizabethtown Gas serves more than a quarter of a million residential, commercial and industrial customers in parts of Union, Middlesex, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, Morris and Mercer counties.

Hackettstown Town of Municipal Utilities Authority (HMUA)
The Hackettstown Municipal Utilities Authority is a Water and Sewer Authority providing service to five municipalities in the Hackettstown Area since 1965.  The five municipalities include the Town of Hackettstown, Independence Township and Mansfield Township in Warren County and Mt. Olive Township and Washington Township in Morris County.

The Water Utility includes four well supplies, a surface water treatment facility supplied by three reservoirs, and 70 miles of water distribution mains.   The Sewer Utility includes 60 miles of sanitary sewer collection system which transports wastewater for treatment at a Water Pollution Control Plant rated at 3.3 million gallons per day (MGD).
